WELTREISE-TRAUM proudly partners with PLAN International Germany in BOLIVIA
Despite the growing economy in Bolivia, poverty is still a large issue—especially among young people. Career prospects lack severely in rural areas like Tarija. It is not uncommon to experience months at a time where there is no agricultural work at all.
In urban areas like La Paz, many young people are involved in precarious employment situations which, in no way, guarantee job stability or certainty. These conditions entail extremely long hours and an income well below minimum wage—all while receiving no social security or government funded benefits. Sadly, most times, these young men and women are not even aware of their rights to an employment contract that would ensure things like regular paychecks, regularly set hours, termination notices or their rights to join a union in order to demand better work conditions.
PLAN aids young men and women from the ages of 15 to 24 years old in improving their occupational qualifications by providing schooling and organizing internships. These options are intended to help these young men and women find well-paid, secure and humane job opportunities or become self-employed.
